Designcraft Somaiya Overview:
Design Craft is a unique market platform that celebrates the individuality of Artisans exposed to design education resulting in amalgamation of traditional techniques with modern design sensibilities. Design Craft, an initiative of Somaiya Group collaborates with the artisans graduated from Somaiya Kala Vidya, an institute for design education of traditional artisans based in Kutch, Gujarat. Together, they have a network of more than 100 artisan designers. We represent and promote artisan designers who have created as well as operate their own labels and use the profits to fund design as well as business education for traditional artisans. Design Craft guarantees that the Artisan is also designer, in a traditional way.
Design Craft is currently working with the artisans of Ajrakh - a resist and and mordant-dyes, block printed craft known for its bold geometric repeats with a centerfield and cross-borders; Bandhani- which involves dyeing a cloth that has been firmly tied with thread in multiple places, as the knotted areas does not absorb the dye, a pattern is created on the fabric surface; artisan designers of Suf, Dhebariya Rabari and Kutchi Rabari Embroidery; Kutchi weaving artisans who use extra weft technique and ikkal artisans from Bagalkot. Our goal is to offer a juried selection of the best of artisan designed crafted textiles and connect the artisan designers to the appreciative market.
Project Goals
Designcraft Somaiya approached us to enhance the visibility of their Achija event exhibition through an engaging social media campaign. The primary objective was to create a compelling online presence that would attract a substantial number of organic users and generate buzz around the event. By leveraging creative content, strategic targeting, and interactive engagement tactics, we aimed to boost the event’s reach and drive significant user participation and interaction.
